Abington Store – View our Progress!
We were very excited to acquire our second location in Abington, but we knew going into it that the place needed some serious work. From the pavement, to the landscaping, to the roof and interior of the building, there was no shortage of renovations to be done. Owner Dan Shaughnessy is no stranger to heading up the general contracting responsibilities of renovating and updating a business in this field. The first order or business – updating the fleet of equipment by getting brand new skid steers and excavators from Caterpillar and two new mini skid steers from Ditch Witch. A rental business is only as good as its equipment, and while our new home needed updating, priority was rightfully put on the fleet of rental equipment.
In the short four months since the acquisition, there have been many updates to the business in Abington. The first project we wanted to tackle was the curb appeal of the building. Everything seemed run down and tired. We wanted to make a statement to the residents of Abington and surrounding towns that Shaughnessy Rentals is the here to help you with project knowledge and superior equipment to get the project done. To get customers looking our way again, we dug out old asphalt and boulders to create a larger, flat parking lot in the front.
With those large boulders we dug up, a local landscaper created a rock formation that stands 15 feet tall. A hand carved wooden sign sits roadside on the newly landscaped island that will be covered in sod come springtime, which borders the fresh asphalt that was laid in the parking lot. A new fence was installed closer to the road to create a larger yard for our equipment and to make it easier for trucks with trailers to turn around. A new roof was a necessary upgrade with the leaking ceilings, but the design of the roof was to create a more welcoming atmosphere for customers. A fresh coat of paint for the whole building will round out the exterior upgrades on Shaughnessy Rentals in Abington, for now.
We also knew there needed to be some major changes on the inside of the building to create a more efficient workspace for our employees as well as a more welcoming showroom for our customers. The front showroom has been completely cleaned and gutted. Work has started on building offices, a new counter and a conference room as well as bringing in some landscape and construction equipment for resale.
We want to be a one stop shop for landscapers needing gloves, oil, equipment, safety glasses and other fast moving items to keep them working at a peak performance. New equipment lines that will be brought in include, Redmax, Jonsered, Dewalt, Subaru and Mi-T-M. Our guys have been extremely busy reorganizing the shop to create an efficient workspace for themselves to keep our equipment running properly as well as getting your lawn mowers and snow blowers tuned up and ready for the season.
Shaughnessy Rentals truly believes that our personnel, experience and equipment is second to none and can help you with any number of projects small and large. Come down and give us a try. We are up for any challenge!
